I graduated with a Management Studies degree from the University of Nottingham in 2005, after which I spent three years working in public relations; first for L'Oreal and then Chanel.
Although I learned a lot by working for such interesting brands, I did not feel fulfilled by the fashion and beauty industry, and this prompted me to consider a change of career.
Law appealed to me because I felt it would utilise my communication skills in such a way that could help people during important and potentially difficult times of their lives.
I applied for vacation schemes to get a better insight into law in practice, and I chose BDB due to the fact the firm welcomes non-law backgrounds, and because of its varied and interesting practice areas. I was lucky enough to be offered a placement with BDB, and everyone at the firm was so friendly and welcoming that I didn't hesitate to say yes when offered my training contract.
I moved home to Birmingham to live with my family whilst studying the GDL and LPC, and I thrived on the challenge of learning again. Although my studies did not allow a lot of time for hobbies, I tried to keep up with fundraising, reading and swimming.
